Office of Emergency Management

The Office of Emergency Management is staffed by a full-time Emergency Management Director who also serves as the Chief of the Dept. of Fire Rescue and the Fire Marshal, an Asst. Emergency Management Coordinator, and the additional 8 personnel within the Dept of Fire Rescue.

One of the key functions of this office is maintaining an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The EOP includes a vulnerability assessment, emergency plans, and a list of various resources and contacts that may be needed during a disaster.

To support the EOP, the Office of Emergency Management maintains an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) within the municipal complex. The EOC is equipped with numerous two-way radio consoles, computer/internet accessibility, a weather station, as well as radio and TV monitoring capabilities. The radio consoles give us the capability of communicating with every fire department, police department, emergency medical services, and Sheriffs in Bucks County, the U.S. Coast Guard, and several emergency services agencies in the neighboring counties. The EOC is supported by an emergency generator should this area experience a power outage. In addition, the Emergency Management Director’s vehicle can also serve as a mobile command post with many of the same communication capabilities.

During certain disaster emergencies the Office of Emergency Management will coordinate the operation of our local resources such as fire companies, rescue squads, police department, and public works. The Office of Emergency Management is also responsible for coordinating with outside agencies such as; the American Red Cross, Bucks County Emergency Management, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency, US. Coast Guard, and the Pennsylvania National Guard.

To promote emergency preparedness the Office of Emergency Management hosts emergency planning meetings involving representatives from Lower Bucks Hospital, Silver Lake Nursing Center, Legacy Gardens Nursing Home, Bristol Township School District, Bucks Co. Technical High School, and Conwell-Egan High School. In addition to these planning meetings, when an event such as a major storm threatens the safety of our residents or will likely hamper the township’s ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner, the Emergency Management Director will facilitate emergency planning meetings or by other means share pertinent information to enhance situational awareness and preparedness efforts. These meetings would involve the previously mentioned groups, as well as our fire companies, rescue squads, Building & Planning Dept., and township administration officials.

If you have questions regarding emergency management, please contact the Emergency Management Director, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm @ (267) 812-2938. You can also email the Emergency Management Director at kdippolito@bristoltownship.org.
