DEPARTMENT of FIRE RESCUE


MISSION STATEMENT

Our Mission is to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property damage from fire; to provide high-quality emergency services; to mitigate the consequences of natural and man-made disasters; and to provide support services within our realm of expertise through highly skilled, trained and dedicated personnel. We will accomplish this mission through annual fire safety inspections, fire safety education, fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue operations, fire investigations, disaster preparedness planning, and professional development training. The personnel of this department WILL:
  • Risk their lives to save a life
  • Put themselves at moderate risk to save property

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Bristol Township Department of Fire Rescue is staffed by a full-time Chief who also serves as the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Director, 2 full-time Captains/Fire Inspectors, 6 full-time Firefighters/Fire Inspectors, and 1 Administrative Assistant/Fire Inspector. Several of these personnel are also EMTs or Paramedics. These same employees also make up the staff of the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Office of Emergency Management. 

 

As part of achieving our mission, the Department of Fire Rescue staffs a Rescue-Engine (“Rescue 225”) weekdays from 6:00am to 4:30pm with (4) Firefighter/Fire Inspectors. During these hours, Rescue 225, with the assigned crew, are out conducting fire inspections within a designated core-section of the township. Rescue 225 respond to all fire/rescue emergencies in the township. In addition to being a fully equipped Engine, Rescue 225 is also equipped to respond to vehicle extrications, industrial rescues, rope/high angle rescues, water rescues, confined space rescues, structural collapse, medical emergencies, as well as mass shooting and mass casualty incidents.    

   

The Chief also serves as a liaison between the township administration and the 5 volunteer Fire Companies and 2 Rescue Squads. On a quarterly basis each year the Chief facilitates a meeting involving the 5 fire companies and 2 rescue squads to share information and discuss issues of mutual interest.
